السياسة في جزر المالديف تحدت إطار الجمهورية الرئاسية، حيث الرئيس رئيس الحكومة. يترأس الرئيس السلطة التنفيدية ويعين الوزارة. إن الرئيس يرشح لفترة خمس سنوات من قبل اقتراع سري من المجلس (البرلمان)، ويمنع الدستور غير المسلمين من التصويت.
